MD’s Green Products

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

M.D. Manufacturing. Inc. today revealed its new product offering of energy conscientious central vacuum products.  “These products are designed to reduce both electrical energy and physical energy for every household that uses a vacuum,” stated General Manager Grant Olewiler, a 30+ year veteran of the industry.

The new MD Model M85 Power Unit offers 650 AirWatts of power in a single-motor system whereas other units had previously only achieved 450.  This equates to quicker cleaning in less time.  Because the unit is generally located in the garage, it removes all dusts and allergens out of the living area, not spewing germs back into the same room.

MD also has developed a new hard surface floor tool CentraMop® which allows you to damp mop while vacuuming thus cutting two chores into one while simultaneously removing all that dust completely from the area.

One additional central vacuum tool has been introduced:  The VacnSeal fits up underneath your countertop and uses the central vacuum suction in conjunction with everyday double-seal Ziploc freezer bags to store foods in an air-tight condition.  By removing the air foods last far longer, stay fresher, and conserve valuable energy.

To obtain further information on any of these products, visit their 8,000 page website at www.builtinvacuum.com or call M.D. Manufacturing at 800 525-2055.

MD walked away from the recent CEDIA Show with two exciting awards.

Monday, September 17th, 2007

First, our new AirForce Central Vacuum received the prestigious “Product of the Year” Award from Electronic House magazine. Never before has any central vacuum placed in this category so we feel this is a very high honor. Obviously they recognized the incredible advances MD has made in eliminating the low voltage wire and adding electronic features such as e-mail bag-full notification.

Custom Retail Magazine further presented MD with an “Excite Award” for a product that brings excitement to the Custom Home Electronics industry.

General Manager, Grant Olewiler was also a guest speaker on the nationally syndicated talk show “Into Tomorrow” with Dave Graveline. The show aired last Sunday the 14th at 2:00 – 5:00 EST. To find a member station visit : http://www.graveline.com/affiliate-radio-stations/ . Or to listen to past shows, visit: http://www.graveline.com/go/weekly-shows/

Obviously MD is making serious waves in the home electronics business and we want your company to be a part of this excitement. Feel free to use the accompanying logo as part of any advertising you do.

Don’t You Love Technology?

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

Thank you AT&T for our shutdown! Yesterday our entire network quit operating at about 9:30 in the morning and we quickly realized how dependant we are on technology! We apologize to those of you who may have been attempting to reach us or use our website.

Seeing our system averages about 65 users at all times, and 1500 users per day, we realize this may have been an inconvenience to quite a few people. Automatic alerts notify us any time our servers go down so we were on top of the problem instantaneously. Initial attempts to reset the system were unhelpful so we had our communications company on the premise within an hour. They spent four hours trying to solve the problem before declaring AT&T’s line was at fault.

AT&T worked on it overnight and it was still not solved in the morning so we were getting a bit impatient. It was during our Tuesday managers meeting that our Controller, Andy Cook, stated that AT&T was down the street yesterday working and we should have asked them about the issue. This piqued my interest as the likely cause of the issue.

Sure enough, apparently they saw two T1 lines going into our building and figured that one of them wasn’t being used so they had disconnected it!

So hopefully now we are back and reconnected with continuous communication and we’e a bit wiser now to take a peak out the front door if any issues occur in the future. If the AT&T truck is in view, we have a likely suspicion when the problem might exist!

We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

New Factory Progress

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

MD Manufacturing has made another long-term committment to keeping jobs in America as evidenced by our recent unveiling of plans to build a new state-of-the-art factory and warehouse here in Bakersfield, California. While we understand the pressure for many manufacturers to outsource their products overseas, our new factory will be designed to compete further on a world-wide economic scale.

Yes, we do purchase some goods from Asia, and we must state that their quality has been improving but a proper balance would necessitate making our most standard and high-quality products here in the states. True evidence of our quality is an order just this week for another container-load of our central vacuums by our agents in China! Yes USA manufactured goods being shipped to China! This is not easy!

Our new facility should hopefully break ground this summer and we hope to occupy the building before next summer. In addition to a comprehensive computer controlled inventory management, it will also contain new manufacturing equipment that will speed up the manufacturing processes. All of our sales and management staff will also be housed in the facility along with a 5000 square feet of research. An extensive studio will also allow expanded video and photography capabilities and we are even planning on expanding our webinar capabilities.

So dealers, we hope you appreciate our unparalled support. For retail viewers of our site, you are just sratching the surface of what it is that makes MD Manufaturing the technology leader of the industry!

New Warehouse Management System

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

You might notice a slightly different marking on packages received from MD Manufacturing via UPS.  As of March 1st we have implemented new software that requires the shipping department to scan each and every item before allowing it to ship.  The item is barcode verified against the database and cannot be shipped if it is the wrong part.

This should further reduce any potential misshipment and provide you the client with the great products you want in a very timely manner.  Also we are capturing all serial numbers in our database.  We can now track exactly when each and every power unit leaves our facility and this will be tied into the warranty registration database.  We will be able to provide our dealers with all pertinant history for their inventory.

A great thanks goes out to Brian Graves , VP of Operations who made this dream a reality.  His can-do spirit put MD utilizing software normally only found in major Tier 1 corporations.  And it could not have been possible without the computer genius of Eric Miller in our IT department.  Where even our software supplier saw dark holes, Eric pulled us through into the light  with a unbelievably streamlined integrated system.  Thanks guys for making MD an industry leader in all aspects of technology!

The Season of TradeShows

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

Our staff has been to three out-of-state tradeshows in the past 5 weeks and we must state that this year will be one of amazing growth based upon product interest!  Not only did we have many new items to display, the dealers are walking up already recognizing who we are.

First we started at the International Builder’s Show in Orlando and the builders loved our new VacnSeal; not to mention all the cool features of our AirForce vacuum system.  Mike Kretsinger and Stan Mann were a tremendous help and all of us returned with hoarse voices from non-stop talking.

The end of February was spent in Las Vegas at the Vacuum Dealers Trade Assn Show (VDTA) and these guys went nuts over our new products.  The new Manta and CentraMop for hard-surface floors was a great hit along with the new AirMaster Cyclonic unit and the Quick-Click hose that breaks down into a 20 and 10 foot hose.  Rebecca Nosaka and Grant Olewiler Jr were a big help supporting the rest of our staff.  On Friday night we honored our dealers with an after-hours hors d’oeuvres party at our booth with a wonderful display of shrimp and other delectables.  We taught a record of seven hours of seminars creating a new “Central Vacuum Educational Track” for VDTA.

Then last week we delighted the audience at the Electronic House Expo in Orlando showing off all of our home automation integration features. We learned that companies such as Lifeware can easily recognize our signals and display bag-full indications right up on the home monitoring system.  As is true with each show, we came way with a renewed vigor for the industry and helpful hints from our dealers as to better serve the needs of our clients.  A special thanks goes out to everyone who stopped by our booths and spent one-on-one time with us.

Also a special thanks to Stan Mann who joined our staff almost six months ago.  His unending energy kept up with the rest of the team and his diligent efforts have been reaping great rewards.  We are truly blessed to have wonderful staff making the world of vacuuming a pleasure each and every day!
